WIEBE, Tena Kay

Tena Kay Wiebe

Tena (Kay) Wiebe nee Wittenberg of 1868 Hillview Crescent, Abbotsford, B.C. died in MSA Hospital on November 1, 1980 following a short illness. Kay was born to Abe & Katherine Wittenberg in Drake Saskatchewan on February 12, 1926. The family moved to Winnipeg when she was age four, then to Yarrow, B.C. when she was 10 years old. She accepted Jesus as her Saviour at an early age, recommitted her life to the Lord at age 15 and was baptized soon after and joined the Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church. She became involved in music and teaching Sunday School at the church.

Kay married C.W. (Neil) Wiebe (one of the owners of Vedder Transport Limited) in August 1950. They moved to Abbotsford where she joined Central Heights Mennonite Brethren Church. The Bible Study begun in her home a few years ago had been a source of real joy to her.

She is survived by her husband, Neil, three sons and their wives: Larry & Martha, Bob & Linda, Marvin & Marge, all of Abbotsford; two grand-daughters, brothers Jack Wittenberg of Vancouver and John Wittenberg of Fallis, Alta., sister Mrs. Erna Duck of Vancouver.

Her funeral was held November 4, 1980 in the Central Heights MB Church with pastor Rudy Boschman officiating.
