
Cornelius W. Wiebe
Cornelius W. (Neil) Wiebe of Abbotsford, B.C. who was born in 1927 in Provost, Alberta passed away July 19th 1990 of a heart attack.
Neil became a Christian as a teem and was baptized July 25, 1948 in Yarrow (B.C.) M.B. Church. Over the years he sang in church choirs, male choirs and various quartets.
He was an active member of Central Heights M.B. Church at the time of his death.
Neil married Kay Wittenberg on August 27, 1950, she passed away in 1980. In 1982, he married Lou Lloyd.
In 1956, he started Vedder Transport Ltd. With three partners, who pooled $400 together and bought one truck. Neil proceeded to haul food goods from a local Yarrow cannery to the processing plants. Decades later, three generations of their family are still intimately involved in the day to day operations of the Vedder Transportation Group who are committed to serving as a liquid and dry bulk distribution partner to the world’s leading food products manufacturers.
The company has grown so that it has over 100 pieces of equipment and several other companies were created. He remained president of the various Vedder Transport companies until his death.
One of his great loves was farming and he expressed his appreciation for the industry with his tractor collection of over 90 John Deere tractors from all eras.

He was a people person, caring for people in practical ways and expressing concern for their spiritual lives. As a result of this concern, many came to know the Lord. Psalm 23 was his favourite scripture.
Neil was predeceased by his first wife Kay, he is mourned by his wife Lou; sons Larry, Robert and Marvin and 7 grandchildren, all of Abbotsford; 2 brothers John and Jake; and 6 sisters: Frieda Isaak, Margaret Wiebe, Carol Clayton, Sue Van Lanzen, Olga Epp and Alvina Reimer all residing in the Fraser Valley.
Neil's funeral was July 23, 1990 at Central Heights M.B. Church with Terry Winter Ministering.
