Mary Dyck

1923 – 2016

Mary Dyck passed away at the age of 93. She was born January 7, 1923 in Suworowka, Siberia, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1929, first to Saskatchewan, then to Yarrow, B.C. in 1934.

Mom married Frank Dyck in 1942. They farmed first on Mc Connell Road, then on McGuire Road in Chilliwack. They had 8 children; 6 boys and 2 girls. Frank passed away in 1998.

Mary was also predeceased by her great-granddaughter Hannah in 2007; daughter Carol Dunsire in2014, Son-in-law Frank Bruys in 2015 and son Gary in 2016.


She is survived by her children: John (Jackie) Ed (Lynda) Elsie, Larry, daughter-in-law Elaine; David (Debbie), Rudy (Shelley); sisters: Linda Hayton and Betty Voss; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service was held at Eden Mennonite Church on June 14th 2016. Reception at the Church followed the burial at Chilliwack Cemeteries.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Frank.






Frank Dyck

1918 – 1998

Frank Dyck passed away April 21, 1998 in Chilliwack at the age of 79. He was born September 29th 1918 in Alexondroka, Russia. Frank came to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1929 and in 1934 he moved to a farm on McGuire Road.

He was a member of the Eden Mennonite Church where he did volunteer work both in the church and at MCC.


Frank is survived by his wife Mary; eight children: John (Jacqueline) of Nanaimo; Ed (Lynda) of Chilliwack; Carol Dunsire of Abbotsford; Elsie (Franklyn) Bruys) of Abbotsford; Larry (Lona) of Chilliwack; Gary (Elaine) of Abbotsford; David (Debbie) of Sardis; and Rudy (Shelley) of Chilliwack; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.

Casket Bearers were: John Dyck, Ed Dyck, Larry Dyck, Gary Dyck, David Dyck and Rudy Dyck.

A funeral service was held at the Eden Mennonite Church on April 28th 1998 with Pastor Werner Froese officiating assisted by Art Kropp;

Burial was at Oddfellows Cemetery.
