Erika Bergen

1932 – 2007

Erika Bergen (nee Friesen) passed away October 5, 2007 in Chilliwack, B.C. She was born July 3, 1932 in Rosemary Alberta. She was 75 years old and had lived in the Chilliwack area for 66 years.

Erika and Bill Bergen were married for 53 years until Bill’s passing in 2003. They lived in Yarrow for 42 years, but when it became difficult for Erika to live on her on her own, she moved to Heritage Village in 2004. Some of Erika’s hobbies included walking, riding her bike, knitting and building puzzles.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents John & Maria Friesen; siblings Elizabeth, Adina and Fred.

Erika is survived by her sisters: Mary Penner, Hilda Penner, Freda (Hank) Friesen, Elsie (Bob) Ewert; her children Ken Bergen, Wesley (Hilda) Bergen, Randy (Roxanne) Bergen, Sandra (John) Mitchell, Jennifer (Glen) Miller; her grandchildren: Colleen (Colin) Braun, Dennis Bergen, Stanley Bergen, Samantha Bergen, Dean Mitchell, Wayde Mitchell, Tyler Miller, Caleb Miller and Timothy Miller.

Funeral services were held on October 10, 2007 at the Yarrow United Mennonite Church with Pastor Ron Braun officiating. Interment at Yarrow Cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thankyou to the staff at Heritage Village who were so supportive in the care of Erika during her three-year stay.

Willian (Bill) Bergen

William (Bill) Cornelius Bergen passed away September 13, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 73 years.

Bill is survived by his wife Erika; children Ken of Chilliwack, Wesley (Hilda) of Yarrow; Randy (Roxanne) of Peers, Alberta; Sandra (John) Mitchell of Chilliwack and Jennifer (Glen) Miller of Mission; grandchildren: Colleen (Colin) Braun, Dennis Bergen, Stanley Bergen, Bryan Bergen, Samantha Bergen, Brianna Bergen, Dean Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Wayde Mitchell, Tyler Miller, Caleb Miller and Timothy Miller; brothers Dave (Lydia) Bergen of Dinuba, California, and Herb (Marianne) Bergen of Ottawa, Ontario and sister Kathy (Harry) Sukkau of Kelowna B.C.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 19, 2003 from the Yarrow United Mennonite Church followed by interment at Yarrow Cemetery.
